ABOUT
1. WHO ARE WE
NOSTOP is a group of experts and professionals who decided to live their dreams by reaching out to communities where there are so many social evils. We have a vast amount of knowledge, skills, and capabilities we want to share especially through women empowerment and youth development initiatives through workshop and feeding programs. We are passionate about serving others and therefore we decided to give back to our communities and to be the voice for various disadvantage communities by introducing educational and social events. We also want to make an impact in their lives especially the youth as our future leaders. These kinds of interventions cannot be a once off intervention and therefore the decision to register our organization as a Non profitable Organization, and by so doing we will be able to obtain support and resources for our projects in the future whilst also ensuring good governance, accountability and transparency.
We are currently working in challenging areas such as, Kraaifontein, Delft, Scottsville, Manenberg and Belhar. Our plan is to collaborate with other NPOs who have similar objectives in the same areas mentioned above. This is also an important time to remember the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic will have a long-term impact on the lives of every citizen in South Africa where many people have lost their jobs and people have gone hungry. This has added to our decision to implement these programs in our communities.

⦁ WHY DID WE START NOSTOP
According to Statistics South Africa (Stats SA), Quarterly Labour Force Survey released on 23 June 2020, the unemployment rate in South Africa has increased to 30,1% in the first quarter of 2020. The youth unemployment rate for those between the ages of 16 and 24 was around 8 percent in early 2017. Typically, teenagers report the highest rates of unemployment. Those in their early 20s are more likely to be working, but their status often depends more on whether they remain in school.
Although there are various reasons for youth unemployment vis-à-vis population growth, lack of experience, inappropriate ways of searching for a job and lack of career guidance in schools, the unemployment rate for first-time jobseekers in South Africa is unacceptably high.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a major setback for many households and the young people tend to bear the brunt of economic downturn, suffering greater job losses and higher unemployment rates than adults. This is for two main reasons. Firstly, young people often have little or no labour market experience, and frequently lack relevant skills.
The following suburbs namely, Kraaifontein, Scottsville, Delft, Manenberg and Belhar were chosen since they are known for poverty, illegal criminal activities, child abuse and negligence, prostitution which resulted in teenage pregnancies. Social evils, domestic substance abuse, violence, gunfights, which results in shooting and innocent people lost their lives and NOSTOP comes in, intervene, and play a positive role in the upliftment of our communities.
⦁ VISION
To focus on stronger relationships and the holistic development in the communities where young people, women and children are strong and confident.
⦁ MISSION
To work in collaboration with organizations who share the same objectives and provide holistic programs in the communities that will empower and enhance them to make better choices and to bring a change into their lives for the greater good
.
⦁ VALUES
⦁ Caring – we value all members of the community irrespective of their background and treat all the same.
⦁ Trustworthy – we can be trusted in dealing with personal/confidential information from the community
⦁ Commitment- we are committed to improve the lives of our community
⦁ Integrity- To know what is right and do what is right
⦁ Respect – To treat others the way you want to be treated
⦁ GOALS
⦁ Provision of nutritional programmes to address hunger
⦁ Create awareness, enhance capabilities, promote a healthy and safe lifestyle to communities.
⦁ To empower the community to not discriminate against anyone on or more grounds, including race, gender, pregnancy, marital status, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, people with disabilities (PWD), religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth.
⦁ Create opportunities through the Community development services/projects to the community in different categories (children, youth, adults, elderly, PWD) and to bring stability into their lives.
⦁ OBJECTIVES OF “NOSTOP”
⦁ To equip communities with the necessary skills and to change their behaviour towards themselves and life.
⦁ To capacitate the community focussing on children, youth and adults
⦁ To create an opportunity and involve the communities to start their own gardens that often underpin the food security of the local community. This will also be a good income and a sustainable livelihood.
⦁ To improve the lives of the youth though educational developmental programmes and to create awareness through different avenues.
PROJECTS IDENTIFIED TO ASSIST AND UPLIFT OUR COMMUNITY:
WOMEN EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME
Despite the freedom that came in 1994 women are still very much marginalized, discriminated and subjected to various forms of abuse. When women realize their economic goals, whether it’s growing a business, improving their home, or investing in training or education, they’re more resilient and able to provide for themselves and their families. Our aim is to empower our women to be independent and to know their rights and responsibilities. We want to partner with other organizations who share the same objective of NOSTOP.
COMMUNITY LIFE SKILLS PROGRAMME
South Africans live in a world of dynamic challenges and opportunities and the focus on this program will also help the communities to deal with change and their environment. Recent years we have seen global trend move in both negative and positive directions. The focus on our life skills programs is also to find oneself.
We want to provide opportunities in collaboration with partners to create opportunities to unemployed youth and the life they desire.
To build personal and social relationships and the ability to be active participants in their communities to the greater South African society.
YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME
During October 2020 Stats SA indicated that an analysis of household survey indicates that in recent years at least 50% of youth complete grade 12. Apart from the social impact of such large numbers the young people are moving into early adulthood with very little prospects or hope of improving their situations.
We believe that some youth members have several latent skills and we want to help them to unlock it and therefore to facilitate their holistic development.
We partnered with FHI 360 and enrolled a number of girls between the age of 16-24 to prepare them for the world of work and to place them on an internship programme in different organisations.
NUTRITIONAL PROGRAMME
Sustainability is important for many reasons including: Environmental Quality, to have healthy communities, we need clean air, natural resources, and a nontoxic environment.
When considering sustainable food development, the goal is to ensure a future when this expanded population has both enough food available to eat and access to high quality, nutritious foods.
With this program we can provide fresh, healthy harvest for residents and allow them to reduce their food bills.
FEEDING SCHEME PROGRAMME (FSP)
In a developing country such as South Africa, where poverty is not only rife, but also among the highest in the world, people inevitably go hungry. According to the World Bank, from a list of 149 countries, South Africa has the highest inequality in the world. Many poor families spend their meagre income on travel, rent, utilities, clothes, etc., some of them cannot afford enough food for the family. Therefore, many children go to school on an empty stomach and often return to a house with limited or no food to eat.
